Biblical Selection of Men

Did you know the word "Piss" is in the Bible? This is the easiest way to win a bet, because most people don't know. The context of its use is in a warrior selecing a certain group of people, and you can find it in the King James Version, in 1 Samuel 25. Its used by David, who throughout the Bible proves repeatedly that he is a rough warrior, with a keen eye for chosing the men he allowed around him.

In 2 Samuel 23, you can read about the Mighty Men of David. Hand picked men, selected by David. David's Mighty Warriors (also known as David's Mighty Men or the Gibborim) are a group of warriors singled out by name in the Books of Samuel. The text (2 Samuel 23:8-39) divides them into the "Three", of which there are three, and "Thirty", of which there are more than thirty. The text explicitly refers to The Three and The Thirty as if they were both important entities, rather than just an arbitrary list of three or 30-plus significant men.

The reason these men were selected, was because of their actions, clearly spelled out in Samuel. Actions that were above and beyond the actions of the men around them. These men did things that made the Bible pause, call them out by name, and chronical their capabilities. This is key for you in your life as you select the men around you, and key for a motorcycle club, as it selects the men that it allows to earn the patch. Not all men acheive the the same things in their lives, or demonstrate the characteristics that you need around you. Having proven Mighty Men of Valor around you is a key to success in your walk, and in having a strong Christian (or even non-Christian) motorcycle club.

Some Biblical accounts put the number of soldiers under David's control at over a million. Yet only Thirty were given the title of David's Mighty Men, and out of that, there were Three who stood out. In other words, there were many brothers, many warriors around David, but only some that earned a place close to David. The Bible does not give us clarity on how David chose these men, so lets look at some ways that Biblical characters have chosen the men they allowed around them. Lets call it Revelation, Reccomendation and Observation

Revelation from God
Gideon faces a battle where he has 32,000 soldiers, in Judges 7. We face a daily battle called life where we have many friends, acquaintences, bros and folks who call themselves Christians. In the Bible, God reveals to Gideon that he only wants 300, or about 1% of the men to accompany Gideon into battle. I suggest to you that if we were to allow God to pick through our 'Friends' to find the ones that will bring us closest to Kingdom Destiny, perhaps only 1% would make it. God uses a number of tests for Gideon, the first test is if anyone is scared, ok they can leave, and more than two thirds of the men leave. In a motorcycle club, if you are afraid of the tough biker men you will witness to, or are unable to ennunciate your witness to them because you are intimidated, well, you can learn or you can leave. Then God uses a second more unusual test for Gideon, how the men drink water. Those that drink it in a cautious and manly fashion can stay, the rest can leave, and only 300 men are left. See, in a motorcycle club, you need cautious manly men, and during the prospecting phase, as the man is earning his patch, the Brothers have a chance to understand the character of the prospect, and whether he is fit for the unique battle that God has charged Disciple Christian Motorcycle Club with. In Luke 6:12-19, Jesus spends the night praying, and in the morning calls his Disciples to him, and selects only 12 of them to be Apostles. In the same way, our club prays that God will reveal to us the right men to assist us on our mission.

Reccomendation from Other Men
In Acts 6, the Apostles called all the disciples together and said, “Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom", and these were the men who were chosen to lead the group of believers. In the same way, the Brothers in a motorcycle club vote, choose and elect who will lead them, and appoint a President, VP, Road Captain, Sgt at Arms, each who has tasks to perform. As well, the brothers vote on whether a prospect meets the needs of the club or not. They comment to each other on whether the prospect has all the qualities needed for the club, and what the prospect needs to work on. Each brother may have something unique to teach the prospect, and it is a club function to ensure the prospect learns what he needs to learn. Without a reccomendation from a man in the club, the brothers will not allow a new person to prospect, and without a vote from ALL the brothers, the prospect will not receive his full patch.

Observation on Your Own.
In 1 Timothy 5:22, Paul tells Timothy "Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands". This refers to the ordination of men for ministry. In any case where a man must be ordained or checked carefully to ensure he meets the requirements for ministry, there is time taken with prayful consideration. Pastors are not just put in the pulpit without training, consideration or observation by other men. Apostles were not chosen at random by Jesus, He observed them, He prayed over the decision. The Elders in acts were not chosed at random, they were men of observed character for the position.  In the same way, a motorcycle club must observe and consider the actions of each prospective member to ensure he meets the goals of the club. A club like Disciple Christian Motorcycle Club needs men who can minister to rough and tumble independent strong men, even 1%ers. This is why there is such a careful and timely process for inducting new members. A time for each man to prove he is interested in this unique ministry opportunity.

In conclusion, take time choosing your friends. Follow a Biblical model. Dont just run with random people, unless you want random results. Carefully selecing and vetting your Brothers will lead you to Kingdom results that further your destiny.

Loud As the Voice of My Thoughts

The Power of God. The Love of God. The Voice of God.

Did you know He will speak to you? His Still Small voice inside you. That He will guide you through the Power of the Holy Ghost, to the scriptures that are relevant to your situation you are in? He will give you the book, chapter and verse, if you ask.

Often I find the Voice of God, but I question it. So I ask Him: “If it’s Your Holy Voice, it’s tested against the Holy Scriptures. Show me in Your word, confirm your Rhema, in your Logos. Confirm the Word in me, with the Word written.”

For the Voice of God will never be contrary to the Prophecy in the Book. They will match, or I have heard the wrong voice. Other voices can speak to you, you know. As they did to Eve in the Garden, she listened, the results disastrous.

This Morning God Spoke to me. Can I tell you about it? The very Voice of God, loud as the voice of my thoughts. Speaking directly to me, directly in me. Not a voice outside me, not some voice in my room, but in me, powerfully, louder than the voice of my thoughts.

Ive been struggling with an issue, struggling with an attack, a person, who has chosen to stand against me, speak badly of me to others, spread a bad report against me, when I had nothing against them. As I rose this morning, considering how to defend myself, I had many thoughts. I settled on a course of action. Then, my thoughts well known to me, my desire to defend, avenge myself, well planned. I knew my thoughts, they were mine, not God’s.

My intentions well planned, I consulted the Lord. No just some lord, but God, the Lord of Hosts, Master and Creator of the Universe, The Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. I said: “God, I will defend myself, here is my plan, these are my thoughts, this what I will do.” And finally, “Is this what I should do?”

The Voice of the Lord, Loud as my thoughts, came to me, saying: “Do not do it.”

“But God,” I reasoned, “I must defend myself!”

As I struggled in indecision, I asked the Lord to confirm His Rhema in His Logos. Do you know these Greek words?

Rhema: The spoken Word of God. The Voice that drove the Prophets of old, and Lead them to write the Book. The Voice of God, louder than my thoughts, competing in me for supremacy, because I do not make Him supreme, I make Him equal to the other voices by feeding my flesh, without washing it, in the water of the Word.

Logos: The written Word of God. Written as shown in 2Peter 1:20-21: But you must know this First of All: That no Prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretations, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men were moved by the Holy Spirit, and spoke from God!” Gods Logos was written that we may have confirmation of His Love for us.

AS I prayed for confirmation of the Will of God, He directed me this morning to the Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 17. He was truly speaking to me, for I love Chapters 14-17 of John. But he was telling me not John Chapter 14-17, but John 14:17. I wondered how this might be relevant to me. I don’t have that verse memorized. I wondered what John 14:17 might say to me, how it might be relevant to the situation of the attack against me. I started reading in verse 16, often I will read some Context of what God is trying to say to me, and found these verses highlighted in my Bible.

John 14:16-18

16. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever. 17. That is the Spirit of Truth, whom the World cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him, because He abides with you, and will be in you. 18. I will not leave you as orphans, I will come to you.

Verse 21: He who has My Commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me, and he who loves me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him, and will disclose Myself to him.

God was telling me that I should not question the direction he gave me. That the Spirit of Truth, that the world cannot receive, is in me. That I should keep His commandment, and follow what the Voice of Truth in me, was telling me about my situation.

I laughed out loud when I realized what God had told me. That God Himself, spoke to me, confirming His Logos to me. A feeling of relief washed over me. I would keep the commandment of the Spirit of Truth!

Then came the other voices, maybe even my voice, snapping and growling at the heels of victory, trying to dissuade me, rising up against the Word of the Lord.

“But God, my spirit is troubled, I worry, I am in the storm, my soul is very disquieted! Speak to me again, that I may confirm Your word.”

So He lead me. “Same Book,” He said, “John 6:17, we will stay with the same number, seventeen”.

When I turned there, I found that God had indeed spoken. It’s the story of Jesus walking on the water. The disciples go down to the sea after seeing Jesus feed 5,000 people. It was so like me, I had just seen God feed me, and now here I am.

John 6:17: After getting into a boat, they started to cross the sea to Capernaum. And it had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18. And the sea began to be stirred up because a strong wind was blowing. 19. When therefore they had rowed about three or four miles, they beheld Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near to the boat, and they were frightened. 20. But He said to them, “It is I, do not be afraid.” 21. They were willing therefore to receive Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going.

Wow. That was my situation exactly. A disciple, lost in a storm, seeing God, but afraid that it isn’t Him, and when I question, He says “It is I, do not be afraid.” But will I receive Him into the boat?

I began crying uncontrollably. That God should talk to me, Louder than the voice of my thoughts, loud enough that His word, written by men thousands of years ago, moved by the Holy Spirit, brought Prophecy into my situation.

But the voice of my thoughts came again. Or was it the same voice of the serpent, that Eve heard? “Surely God, I should defend myself from the things that are being said about me?”

The Voice of the Lord came again to me. “We will stay in the same number, 17. Go to Psalm 17.”

Dear reader, I will let you read Psalm 17 all by yourself. It was highlighted in my Bible too. Suffice it to say, that in my Bible, the headline of the Psalm is:

Prayer for Protection against Oppressors.

Wow. Double Wow. No, triple Wow: three Scriptures in a row, given by Prophecy, men moved by the Holy Ghost, thousands of years ago, to speak into my situation.

GOD IS GREAT 888

Here are bits from Psalm 17:

Hear a just cause, Oh Lord, give heed to my cry;

Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.

Let my vindication come forth from Thy Presence,

Let Thine eyes look with equity.

Thou hast tried my heart,

Thou has visited me by night,

Thou hast tested me and Thou dost find no evil device in me.

I have called upon Thee, for Thou wilt answer me, oh God.

Wonderously show thy Mercy, Oh Saviour,

Towards those who take refuge at Thy right hand,

From those who rise up against them.

Keep me as the apple of the eye,

Hid me in the shadow of Thy wings,

My deadly enemies who surround me,

They have closed their unfeeling heart,

With their mouth they speak proudly,

They have surrounded us, to cast us down to the ground.

Arise Oh Lord, confront him, bring him low,

Deliver my soul from the wicked, with Thy sword,

From men, Oh Lord, whose portion is in this life,

As for me, I shall behold they face in righteousness,

I will be satisfied with Thy likeness when I awake.

Brotherhood

Brotherhood.
Man, There's nothing like it.

Psalm 133 says:

1Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Oil refers to the Anointing of the Holy Ghost. When your brothers are driving you to be closer to God, you receive so much more than just walking it alone.
As dew makes the desert grass grow, so iron sharpens iron, as one man sharpens another. Without the brotherhood, who will tell you when you are wrong? Who will push you to share your Gift?
See, i want the blessing, the commanded blessing of the Lord. And that's tied to brotherhood!

Here is what i will tell you man. Its about Jesus. Not how many 1%ers one might know, not about what rag one might wear. Its about Jesus. Its not about if its a one piece patch or a three. Its about Jesus. Its not if one might have an MC or an MM, Its about Jesus.

When i came to realize that, i surrendered my fight to be cool. Later, Jesus gave me what the desire of my heart is. Its not the patch that makes the man, its the man that make the patch. And its Jesus that makes the man. Thats why it really doesn't matter what i wear on my back, but i choose to wear the Cross of Christ, and He handles the rest. Its about Jesus.

By showing my submission, i show my strength. He is my strength. the goal is to glorify Jesus, not Me.

What Ive sometimes heard in men's comments is that 'They' are the man. An alpha male. its about respect, and who they know. That the patch is more important to them, that you must be seen in a 'cool' patch, or whatever. That they wore 3pc patch before and they are jolly well not going to wear a one piece, whether it carries the Cross of Christ or not. Its all about their experience and how 'hard' they are. I challenge that. Its about Jesus.

By showing my submission, i show my strength.

I'm a hardcore former Enforcer who lived the 1% lifestyle, with active participation in the 90s motorcycle club wars under my belt. I still to this day legally carry a gun. But its not about that. I'm nothing. Im a vessel. It ain't about who i know, its about how i can serve. Its about how i can minister. Its about Jesus.

By showing my submission, i show my strength.

I wish these guys the best man, and God bless them. Read the Holy Bible and focus on the Man, Jesus. thats all i can tell you man. Jesus can help you not be disrespectful, to minister grace to the hearer, and not worry about 'who you are'. Jesus can help you find whatever you are looking for. Its all about Jesus

I can tell one thing, we are looking for the spirit of a servant. We are looking for ministers on motorcycles. Ready at any time to stand in the gap. Ready to counsel those with one hand on the Jacky Daneils, the other with a pistol in their mouth. Ready at any time to prophesy into the lives of those God has put before us. Ready at any time to hear confession, and pray forgiveness with the chief of sinners. Ready to administer the Holy Communion with those who no longer feel they can step into church. Ready at any time to hold Church in a bar, and preach the gospel to the needy. Ready at any time to grab a man and pray with him, even in public. These are the requirements of a Disciple. The meek shall inherit the earth. The last shall be first, and the alpha males shall be last.

Its not the patch that makes the man.

Its about Jesus.

DISCIPLE CMC Mens Bible Study

Rolled out of bed this morning and got on my motorcycle. Just like every other morning. Brushed my teeth, let the dog out, strapped my laptop to my bike and took off. Most of my cares and thoughts are gone after ten miles, which leaves me plenty of time to pray on the way in to work. 30 miles, one way, to work. And back.
But today was unusual. Its the third Friday, thats the DISCIPLE Men's Bible Study. We get together and share some time in the word together. By 623am i was on the road, stopped for gas, and hit the freeway. At 648 i pulled up to the office, and made coffee. Everyone showed up a few minutes later, also a bag of Bojangles sausage and egg buscuits! We ate, drank coffee and listened to "I Just Know" by Disciple (you gotta check that song out!) and some other Christian hardcore. We did some work on our rags, and talked club business for a few minutes.
Finally Matt opened in prayer and we jumped into Proverbs 18. I was taught years ago that there are 31 chapters in Proverbs, same number of days in the month, so why not read a the same chapter of the date, daily? Proverbs 18:4 stuck out to Scott, "The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, but the fountains of wisdom is a bubbling brook." We talked about how there is so much more to what people are saying than the words that they say. As we read through the chapter it seemed like each of us found scriptures that spoke to us for the day.
After Bible Study was done, we hung out for another hour and listened to different Christian music, and compared bands. I learned of a new band i hadnt heard of before, and will definitly be checking out, called War of Ages. We also talked about going out to some local Christian hardcore shows. I love being in a Christian Motorcycle Club!
Overall, a great way to start the day! God is Great!

God is Great

Riding season is coming up, which is funny to say, cuz this is South Carolina and all year is riding season as far as I am concerned. But i have to admit, the 19F mornings on the way to work were cold, and I sure didn't see many other bikes on the road.

With the season here, watch the website for regular updates about events in the area that we will be attending. Please feel free to call our hotline and find out when the next ride is. If you are a biker looking for a ride to attend, well, we are always on the move! Our last run was the Hells Angels Run here in Lexington SC. We went out to shine a little light, and had a great time.

We will look forward to riding with you, stay safe!
